Samuel Heaslett

The Rt Rev Samuel Heaslett was an Anglican bishop[1]. He was born in Belfast in 1875 and educated at Durham University. Ordained in 1900 [2] he began his career as a Tutor at Osaka Divinity School after which he was a Missionary in Tokushima then a Professor at Tokyo Central Theological College[3] before elevation to the Episcopate as the 4th Bishop of South Tokyo[4] a post he held[5] until he was interned in 1941[6]. Released after four months[7], he returned to England to became an Assistant Bishop within the Diocese of Sheffield [8]. He died on 16 October 1947 [9].
